Civil Discourse

We believe Civil Discourse is a timely topic after our 2016 elections. We advocate for more respectful communication among citizens and elected officials at all government levels. The League has always promoted civility in government. We have work to do, given today’s extremely polarized politics. Willamette Weekly cites the Southern Poverty Law Center, November 30, 2016: “New Report on Post-Election Hate Incidents Shows Oregon at Top of List”.

The League of Women Voters of the United States’ Social Policy:
Secure equal rights and equal opportunity for all. Promote social and economic justice,
and the health and safety of all Americans.

Resources for Family Preparedness

Use this advice with documents to prepare. If members of your family are detained or unavailable as caretakers, you need to have papers and emergency information in order and know what to say.
