The League of Women Voters of Oregon (LWVOR) is holding a Council in Gold Beach, Oregon from May 4th-6th, 2018. The theme is Watershed Moments. All members will attend workshops, elect officers, finalize a budget, and consider resolutions.
The League of Women Voters for many years has developed positions to advocate for protecting our natural resources and the ecosystem of our planet, reforming money in politics, educating and engaging voters, protecting citizens’ right to vote, and championing social policy.
The keynote speaker, Bill Bradbury, is a former Secretary of State of Oregon. His career has focused on environmental protection and economic development. He was first elected as a State Representative in 1980. For fourteen years he served in the Oregon Legislature, representing the southern Oregon coast. He was elected to the State Senate in 1984, where he was elected Senate Majority Leader in 1986 and Senate President in 1993. From 1999-2009 Bill served as Oregon’s Secretary of State. He served on the Northwest Power and Conservation Council from 2011 to 2018 as one of two members from Oregon. His presentation is titled “Watershed Moments: Climate and Salmon.”
